Rules & guidelines

The short version of what works and what doesn’t, so nothing surprises you on the day.

Compiled from the party knowledge base and the current site.

Food and drink

  • No outside food or beverages may be brought into the venue.
  • All cakes, cupcakes, donuts and any birthday dessert must be store-bought from a licensed bakery. No homemade desserts.
  • Event food must be pre-ordered 3 days in advance and cannot be added on the day. You can order from the restaurant menu on the day as normal.
  • Food included in your package cannot be substituted.
  • We cannot store anything in a refrigerator or freezer — including ice cream cakes, and a regular cake held for guests who decorate early.

Decorations

  • No helium balloons, silly string, confetti, glitter, cake sparklers, or balloons filled with confetti.
  • Nothing may be taped or attached to walls or ceilings.
  • Your own plates, cups, napkins and tablecloths are welcome — staff set them out as part of normal service.
  • Anything that needs building (centerpieces, balloon arches) is assembled by you. We make the space available.
  • Foil centerpiece balloons included in a package are 2 per party.

Your event space and timings

  • Your package includes one hour of reserved event space, and your food service happens during that hour.
  • Groups eat first and play after. We cannot do games first and food afterwards.
  • The space is not held past the scheduled end time at most venues. Additional event space time can be added through your coordinator.
  • We cannot guarantee a specific space. Your space is assigned based on your guest count and the other events that day.

Game cards

  • Game cards are handed out at the end of your reserved event hour, not before.
  • Every participant gets both cards — red is All Access, blue is Timed Play.
  • Both party cards stop working at the end of the day of the event, used or not. Play time on the timed card starts when it is first used on a game, and that card carries no E-tickets.

Outside entertainment

  • Outside entertainers are welcome, but must provide liability insurance a week before your event.
  • DJs are not permitted to perform inside a GameTime venue at any time.

Deposits, cancellations and headcount changes are covered on thebirthday page. The rules that apply to everyone in the building, party or not, are the House Rules. Cake, storage and decoration questions are answered in the birthday party FAQ.
